The Neverland Yacht Club was founded in 1723 by the infamous Captain James Hook of the S/V Jolly Roger, who served as its first Commodore until 1904 when an unfortunate lapse in timekeeping resulted in a sudden and involuntary crocodile-induced retirement. With the Commodore’s abrupt departure, the club found itself in a period of great uncertainty.
A schism soon arose between the two surviving members. Gentleman Starkey, Hook’s ever-loyal first mate, declared that proper maritime tradition required order, discipline, and an immediate relocation. He rowed westward to establish the ill-fated Neverwood Yacht Club, and was never heard from again. Though little is known about the exact circumstances of his disappearance, according to Piccaninny tribal elders, his last words were, "So, why do they call this Marooner's Rock?"
Meanwhile, the more affable boatswain, Mr. Smee, set out eastward with a decidedly more relaxed approach. With great enthusiasm and unburdened by foresight, planning, or a working compass, he traveled to the far east side of the lagoon and founded the West Neverland Yacht Club — a distinguished institution he proudly governed until the following Tuesday, when he promptly misplaced it.
Though Smee forgot where he left it, none of the members remembered that he had. So, the club pretty much went on the same as it did before, which is pretty much how it goes today. The club remains right where he left it, which, naturally, is the very last place you’d think to look. So, it is easy to find if you don't think too much.
The West Neverland Yacht Club offers a lifetime of adventure and a steadfast refusal to grow up. Membership provides access to an endless range of unsanctioned nautical experiences.
